Walks & Talks

• Insect Safari: Saturday, July 12th (1pm)
  • Join a DCR ranger to capture and release all varieties of six-legged creatures on this meadow exploration. The DCR ranger will bring nets, bug boxes and magnifiers. Activities are suitable for all ages. 1.5 hours. Meet at Brookwood Farm. For details call 617-698-1802 x213.
• Little Blue Ramble: Saturday, July 19th (1pm)
  • Hike around Little Blue Hill with a DCR ranger. You'll explore the hilltop and surrounding scenery on this easy walk. 1.5 hours. Meet at the Little Blue Hill parking lot on Route 138. For details call 617-698-1802.
• Houghton's Pond Fish Festival: Saturday, July 26th (10am-3pm)
  • "Catch" some "reel" fun at Houghton’s Pond this summer! Join the DCR rangers and instructors from MassWildlife to learn the basics of ishing in this free clinic. Equipment is available or bring your own. Crafts, games and other fishy activities too! Take Rt. 93 to exit 3 and follow Fish Festival signs to picnic site 5 on the west side of Houghton’s Pond. • Dog Days of Summer: Sunday, August 10th (1pm)
  • Throw a leash on your favorite pooch and join a DCR ranger for a dog-friendly walk. Stretch your legs and socialize with other dogs and dog owners. 1.5 hours. Meet at the Shea Rink parking lot on 351 Willard St. in Quincy. For details call 617-698-1802.
• The Art of Field Sketching: Saturday, August 16th (1pm)
  • Explore your artistic side and learn sketching tips and tricks. You must bring a set of drawing pencils, eraser and sketch book. 1.5 hours. Meet at Brookwood Farm. Call 617-698-1802 x213 for info.
• Sunset of Summer: Sunday, August 31th (6:30pm)
  • End the day with a scenic hike led by a DCR ranger to the summit of Great Blue Hill. You will watch the sun set before our twilight descent. 1.5 hours. Meet at the Trailside North parking lot. For details call 617-698-1802.
