Volunteer for Trail Race October 1st or 2nd?

Are you free the morning of Saturday October 1st… OR the morning of Sunday, October 2nd ?  Please consider volunteering to help make the 13th Annual Houghton’s Pond Trail Race a success!

As a volunteer you hang out with other cool people… and receive the gratitude of all the racers!  And you help support the Blue Hills – since part of the proceeds go to the Friends of the Blue Hills!

We’ll meet at Houghton’s Pond.  The time commitment on race day is approximately 7 AM to 11 AM, depending on the assignment, but if you need to arrive late or leave early, let us know, and we’ll plan accordingly.

All race volunteers receive one of our distinctive race T-shirtsThe race proceeds are split between Colonial Road Runners and Friends of the Blue Hills, which helps to maintain the trails in the Blue Hills Reservation.

Volunteers are also needed to help with marking the race course on Saturday, October 1st (the day before the race), starting at 8 AM.  We put up pink “flagging tape” along the route, and mark intersections with limestone dust.  All in all, it’s a pleasant walk in the woods, with company.  It takes 2-3 hours.  No experience is needed!

If you can help either on Sunday or Saturday (or both!), please click here to select the date for which you are volunteering, and provide the requested information.  (If you are volunteering for both dates, you will need to enter your information separately for each date.)

For Sunday, if you have something that you particularly enjoy doing—registration, parking, timing, water stops, refreshments, course monitoring, or “sweeping” behind the last runners—please send the race organizer an email at trailrunning@colonialrunners.org , and we’ll try to accommodate you.

Many thanks for your help!
