Take lessons in casting, knot-tying and fish identification, then cast a line into Houghton’s Pond. Instructional clinics throughout the day. Fish crafts and games too!
Bring your own equipment or there will be limited equipment available for loan.
No fishing license required for this educational, non-competitive family event. Free bait provided.
Look for the Friends of the Blue Hills table and say hi!

Special 40th Anniversary Event

As part of our 40th Anniversary Celebration, the Friends is offering our members an opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty and serenity of the Blue Hills!
Join us for a Forest Bathing Walk in the Reservation led by certified Forest Therapy Guide Tam Willey. These slow-paced guided wanderings promote wellness through a series of gentle sensory-opening invitations that invite us to notice more of our natural surroundings.
SPACE IS LIMITED and is open to Members Only on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, please email info@FriendsoftheBlueHills.org. Once you are registered, you will receive additional information including the meeting place. If the session is full, you will be placed on a waiting list.
If you are not yet a member, you can join today! As a member, you’ll receive a trail map and invitations to special Members Only events throughout the year. Most importantly, your donation will help protect and preserve the Blue Hills Reservation for current and future generations!

Help us mark this special 40th Anniversary by joining us at our Annual Celebration on Thursday, October 3. We will celebrate the Blue Hills, our members and friends, and everything we have accomplished together over the past 40 years!
Our Keynote Speaker will be New York Times Best-Selling Author Tom Ryan, whose book Following Atticus: Forty-Eight High Peaks, One Little Dog, and an Extraordinary Friendship tells the heart-warming story of this newspaper reporter and his relationship with his beloved dog Atticus M. Finch as they hike the mountains of New Hampshire together.
Enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, silent auction and much more! Tickets are $35 each if purchased by September 30 and $40 each at the door.
