
Join the Friends of the Blue Hills for a “Hiking Boots and Brews” event! If you would like to explore the Blue Hills Reservation, meet other people, and sample some delicious beers, please join us! After a 2-3 hour hike along popular Blue Hills trails, hikers who are 21 years and older will have the opportunity to visit a nearby brewery to enjoy some cold ones. This is a free event. Beer may be purchased at the brewery.

Meet at the DCR Quincy Quarries Historic Site parking lot on Ricciuti Drive in Quincy.
From Rt. 93, exit 8, follow signs toward Quarry Hills. Park at the lot on the right at the crest of the first hill.
Quincy is known as the Granite City for its rich quarry history. Join local experts and enthusiasts from the DCR, the Quincy Quarry Workers Museum and a registered geologist to learn about the amazing geology and industrial history of the Quarries. Sturdy footwear is recommended and the ability to walk on uneven ground. 2 hours

Three DCR Ranger-led Hikes start at 1 pm
Join the tradition and celebrate New Year’s Day in the Blue Hills. From noon to 1 pm, visit with live wildlife from the Trailside Museum, purchase a cup of hot cocoa or a snack from the Venture Scouts, and share some holiday cheer by the fire. Then stretch your legs on one of three easy to moderate guided hikes which all depart at 1 pm. Meet at the Houghton’s Pond main parking lot at 840 Hillside Street in Milton. After a 2 hour hike around Ponkapoag Pond, hikers who are 21 years and older will have the opportunity to visit a nearby brewery to enjoy some cold ones. Beer may be purchased at the brewery.
