Our Keynote Speaker will be New York Times Best-Selling Author Tom Ryan, whose book Following Atticus: Forty-Eight High Peaks, One Little Dog, and an Extraordinary Friendship tells the heart-warming story of this newspaper reporter and his relationship with his beloved dog Atticus M. Finch as they hike the mountains of New Hampshire together. You will also be able to purchase signed copies of the book at the event, thanks to an Unlikely Story Bookstore and Cafe of Plainville.
Enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, silent auction and much more! Tickets are $35 each if purchased by September 30 and $40 each at the door.

2019 Honorees This year, as part of our 40th-anniversary celebration, we will be acknowledging, with a ‘Legacy Award,’ those partners and individuals who have made a significant impact on the organization over the years. We are also celebrating our community partners who have been working to improve the Blue Hills and our natural environment.

Join the Friends of the Blue Hills for a “Hiking Boots and Brews” event! If you would like to explore the Blue Hills Reservation, meet other people, and sample some delicious beers, please join us! After a 2-3 hour hike along popular Blue Hills trails, hikers who are 21 years and older will have the opportunity to visit a nearby brewery to enjoy some cold ones. This is a free event. Beer may be purchased at the brewery.

Meet Blue Hills Wildlife from Noon – 1 pm
Hot cocoa & snacks for sale
Three DCR Ranger-led Hikes start at 1 pm
Join the tradition and celebrate New Year’s Day in the Blue Hills. From noon to 1 pm, visit with live wildlife from the Trailside Museum, purchase a cup of hot cocoa or a snack from the Venture Scouts, and share some holiday cheer by the fire. Then stretch your legs on one of three easy to moderate guided hikes which all depart at 1 pm. Meet at the Houghton’s Pond main parking lot at 840 Hillside Street in Milton.
