The Department of Conservation and Recreation is steward of one of the largest state parks systems in the country. The core mission of the DCR is to protect, promote, and enhance the state’s natural, cultural, and recreational resources for the well-being of all. In celebration of this special 125th anniversary of the DCR, Mass Audubon’s Blue Hills Trailside Museum is hosting an art exhibit featuring works from local artists which depict the natural, historical and recreational resources of the DCR’s Blue Hills Reservation.
#OptOutside Hike for Black Friday
Friday November 23, 11:00 am
Meet at the Blue Hills Trailside Museum north parking lot
The Friends of the Blue Hills has joined up with REI’s #OptOutside campaign on Black Friday Hike series to encourage people to enjoy the outdoors the day after Thanksgiving. We hope you will join us for a hike in the Blue Hills! If you weren’t able to join us at the recent ribbon cutting of the Abigail Adams Trail, here’s your chance to hike it with us! We’ll hike up from the Trailside Museum and enjoy the view from the top of Great Blue. Rain cancels. RSVP requested, but not required: info@FriendsoftheBlueHills.org.
Join us for the last trail maintenance event of the year! We will make sure the drain structures are ready for winter, and clear away storm debris. Meet us at 9 am at the Houghton’s Pond main parking lot, 840 Hillside St, Milton. Wear sturdy boots, long pants and work gloves and bring at least one quart of water.
In case of inclement weather, we will cancel, so please sign up for trail maintenance alerts at the bottom of our trail maintenance page.
Join us as we celebrate the holiday season at scenic Brookwood Farm. Hot beverages will be provided. Bring a holiday treat to share, if you like. We will enjoy some indoor holiday cheer, and then take a stroll through the farm fields and woods. New walkers always welcome. Meet at Brookwood Farm Conference Center at 11 Blue Hill River Road in Canton. Parking allowed in the upper lot at the back of the property. Follow signs. For info, call 617-727-4573.
