The Wakefield Estate will host its 1st annual Blue Hills Octoberfest on Saturday, October 20 from 2:00-5:00pm. The event will feature live music, delicious street food, kids activities, farm animals, garden games and a fine selection of locally crafted beers by Turtle Swamp Brewing of Jamaica Plain. The Blue Hills Octoberfest is a a benefit to raise funds for the Outdoor Environmental Education Program Bus Fund, which enables over 2000 Boston-area students to enjoy a day of outdoor learning each year at the Wakefield Estate. This event is co-sponsored by Friends of the Blue Hills and Brookwood Community Farm.

Adding to the festival-feel of the event, live music will be performed by Electric Standard,  a trio of local musicians that plays an eclectic mix of original songs and classic blues, rock and soul. Delicious food for will be prepared by The Chubby Chickpea,  a Boston-based food truck serving Israeli street food, specializing in vegetarian and gluten free options – in addition to delicious chicken! – and creative side dishes.

The Blue Hills Octoberfest will feature locally crafted draft beers from Turtle Swamp Brewing of Jamaica Plain, the first true home of American brewing. Turtle Swamp Brewing is a neighborhood brewery that strives to be a good neighbor, while making consistent beer with high quality and local ingredients. “The beer of Jamaica Plain.”
