Dr. Rick Kesseli of UMass Boston reveals the amazing native plants that live in and around Ponkapoag Pond that the Friends of the Blue Hills volunteers are working to protect when they participate in our Survey and Save the Forest initiative. In this video, Dr. Kesseli explores the many intriguing native species that grow at Ponkapoag Pond. From insect-eating plants of the bog, to delicate mayflowers of the upland, Dr. Kesseli takes you on an insightful tour of the plants that make this habitat so beautiful… and worth protecting. This presentation was part of the online program of the Friends of the Blue Hills 2021 Annual Celebration.
