2021-06-16Skip MayslesCanton Park & Ride Lot186 volunteers cleaned up the Park and Ride lot on Route 138. The lot and adjacent area beyond the barriers were full of discarded trash. The group collected 28 bags of trash, one 5 foot table, a beach chair and a gallon of paint. One hazard: volunteers were instructed NOT to touch any syringes/needles and if found, notify leader S Maysles. One syringe/needle was found near the southern entrance to the lot. S Maysles had orange trail marking tape and marked the location. After this event, SMaysles went to DCR HQ and reported to DCR. 6/17/21 On follow up visit to this lot, syringe was removed.Cindy Crosby, Janice Cohen, Joanne Newton, Mark Baldwin, Val Madden

2021-09-24Ruth BigioBurma Road20Overgrown grass/weed removal along Burma Road in Fowl Meadow.Marnie Bolstad, Nancy Dimock, William Manley, Kenneth Pariser, Rita My, Mikal Rosendahl, Elizabeth MeyerFrom TH for about 1/2 mile, Burma Road was mowed, by mechanical mower, apparently by MWRA. Our group of 8 continued for about 1/4 mile, slow laborious process with inefficient tools. I had hoped to get to intersection of Burma/Fowl Meadow Path, still about 1/4 mile remains. Invasive Mile-a-Minute abundant at intersection (also along trail), we should pull that and leave the mowing to MWRA, they are obviously able to get in there with vehicles and are so much faster and efficient.
