2020-03-24 | Bob Vogel | Minuteman Path (FBH) | 1 | Cleared downed trees, lots and lots of branches.
2020-03-27 | Bob Vogel | Quarries Foot Path | 1.5 | Worked on 'the missing link' between when you descend from ridge and reach Ricciuti Drive. Cut several trees across the trail, moved others. But lots of brush. LOTS of brush. | This trail is poorly marked, and thus quite difficult to follow. It is difficult to find your way up to the ridge from Wampatuck Road. There are unmarked forks along the ridge. And when you descend (to the beer can collection) you have to know where you are supposed to go, as again nothing is marked, or easy to follow. Someone could attempt to clean up the beer can collection.. but I expect it would reappear, and as is it's one of the few landmarks to guide you. 🙁
2020-04-19 | Bob Flagg | Sawcut Notch Path | 4 | Cleaned up trailhead and nearby brook of trash and debris blocking culverts. Removed branches from large tree blocking outflow of culvert about .56 miles from Rt 28. Cleaned three grade reversals before pipeline. | The large tree needs to be removed from the outflow area near culvert at .56 miles from Rt 28 (when dry). Also need to repair outflow area of the rock surrounding outflow. Clay pipe is broken so may need to replace whole structure.
2020-04-19 | Bob Flagg | Minuteman Path (FBH) | 1 | Removed branches from trail, dugout grade reversal near the far end of the trail and cleaned swale at beginning of trail.
2020-06-07 | Bob Flagg | Sawcut Notch Path | 3.5 | Performed good brushing from Rt 28 to the brook about half mile in. Removed lots of green briar growing up trees and surrounding trail. Clear small tress overhanging trail. | The stone surround at the large culvert is crumbling and needs to be completely prepared. Stone culvert needs to be assessed to determine if it needs to be replaced.
2020-07-11 | Bob Flagg | Cedar Rock Path | 0.75 | Light brushing of trail, cleaned out grade reversal near top of hill.
2020-07-11 | Bob Flagg | Pasture Run | 0.5 | Light brushing on trail. | Identified good site for grade reversal at the top of hill & marked with rock.
2020-07-11 | Bob Flagg | Ridge Path | 1 | Brushed trail and removed overhanging trees. Cleared large crown hanging over trail.
2020-07-11 | Bob Flagg | Sassaman Path | 0.5 | Light brushing of trail.
2020-07-18 | Bob Flagg | Pasture Run | 4 | Installed grade reversal at 4052. Water flows down from Chickatawbut Rd and this will prevent it from running the length of the trail.
2020-08-15 | Jessica Baumgart | Minichiello Path (FBH) | 8 | We brushed the trail for about 2 hours, focusing particularly on trying to eliminate lots of smilax/greenbrier. | Melissa Nelson, Maura Middleton, Laura McDermott | Lots of brushing remains. We probably only got about halfway down the trail. Some overgrowth has turned this very popular trail into a single track in places. Be prepared to maneuver around thorns because of all the smilax/greenbrier. A large pine tree across the trail would be best removed via chain saw. | Poison ivy is prevalent along this trail and area, like in one of the first big bends to the right. It needs to get brushed. We skipped some brushing because we didn't think we could trim without getting into the ivy. Some plants along the trail look like they have been blitzed with something. We saw lots of patches of wilted plants without any obvious causes. |
2020-10-17 | Paul Brookes | Murphy Path | 1 | Walked and swept trail, clipped low hanging branches as well as grasses along the path to maintain breadth and height of the trail. | On Murphy Trail approximately 100 meters South of intersection marker 4220 is a large tree down. The base of the trunk has fallen across the trail. No branches need to be removed as they are off trail, but the trunk is about three feet in diameter and needs a chainsaw to cut into sections and drag off trail. People are walking around the base of the tree generating a short 10-feet length of divergent pathway.
2020-11-14 | Pete Tierney | Shawmut Path (FBH) | 10 | Cleared encroaching vegetation and blowdowns from Wampatuck Rd to intersection with Green Dot trail. Most of the time was spend clearing the unnamed path that stretches from Shawmut Path to the quarry on Rattlesnake Hill. Also cleared stones from the quarry to the foot of the hill on the Skyline trail. | Samantha, Martin, Bill | Step-over blowdown near road needs removal.
2020-11-22 | Bob Flagg | Crags Foot Path | 1.5 | Cleaned and reshaped grade reversal near 4151, removed large branches just before intersection.
2020-11-21 | Bob Flagg | Indian Camp Path | 1 | Removed several large branches across trail near 4120. | Large butt log about 100 yards east of 4120 blocks half of trail.
2020-11-11 | Gail Janeczek | CCC Trail | 16 | Invasive plant removal around the concrete building pad. | Lorna Jane Norris, Martina Linfield, Delia Linfield, Laurie Babcock, Rustin McIntosh, Luke Burns, Steve Murphy, Chris Bullock | More invasive removal to be done. | New CCC sign installed on trail by concrete pad. |
