2024-01-15 | Anna MacDougall | Half Way Path | 1.1 | Walked the trail and removed some small branches. I have two streams that run under the trail, one, the first one, is very swollen and has a tree down making it very difficult to walk on, also about 40 feet up from tree marker 1110 there are many large trees down and is imposible to get by. Will need 4 people and a chain saw to remove the branches | just the removel of the down trees.
2024-02-07 | Bob Vogel | Five Corners Path | 0.5 | Picked up sticks and generally made sure everything was ok.
2024-02-25 | Bob Flagg | Rotch Path | 0.25 | Walked trail removing branches from trail.
2024-03-08 | Ruth Bigio | Wildcat Notch Path | 2 | Large white pine blow down, obstructing the trail close to intersection with Half Way Path, at marker #1093. Someone had started to remove some of the smaller branches. I had checked this blowdown previously a few times, no work had been done. Our group of four removed all smaller branches and pulled them away from the trail. Sawed the large trunk (12" dia) into sections and pulled them out of the way. The trail is now clear and clean. Someone had already removed some of the | Alan Mitchell, Cheryl Newton, Shubha Chungi | Work completed
2024-03-08 | RUTH BIGIO | Five Corners Path | 1.5 | Blowdown near intersection of Half Way Path and Five Corners Path, very close to marker #1110. We removed smaller branches of a large oak tree, cleaned up. Large trunk remains, needs a chainsaw. There is a gap which makes it easy to step over. | Alan Mitchell, Cheryl Newton, Shubha Chungi | Large trunk diagonal across path needs to be removed with a chainsaw. Relatively easy to step over.
2024-03-14 | Earl Fay | Skyline Trail West | 4 | Removed 7 Blow downs of various sizes. | Brian Fay | One large pine down close to the between the 6800 and 6700 trail crossings, closer to 6700.
2024-03-17 | Tim Finocchio | Eustis Trail | 2.1 | Took care of tree branches and did some trimming of dead branches. The trail does require some chainsaw attention. | Chainsaw work
2024-03-12 | Bob Flagg | Five Corners Path | 1.5 | Cleaned debris from two grade reversals near Blue Hill River Road. | It appeared someone had placed branches across the outflow ditch, not sure the reason.
2024-03-24 | Michael Pratt | Border Path | 2 | cleared loose organics from culverts and water bars. Removed fallen tree from trail. | Need to address main drainage at start of trail where brook crosses under trail. Heavy rains have caused some erosion. Need to use rocks to support wall aside of brook to protect the trail - from the main culverts to the secondary culvert
2024-03-24 | Eric Hansen | Circle Trail | 1 | Walked the trail looking for any issues. I cleared the drainage that's closest to the trail halfway down, and repositioned some rocks for better flow. This is a recurring problem area but it's improved, with less runoff going onto the trail, since I have been doing this periodically.
2024-03-24 | Eric Hansen | Hancock Hill Path | 0.5 | Walked the trail, no real issues. It had just rained, so the low/flat section that stems off Breakneck Ledge Path was partly flooded, which is typical.
2024-04-13 | Alan Mitchell | Puddle Path | 1.5 | Cleaned fallen limbs and doggie poop bags from Puddle Path and then a stretch of Wildcat Notch | Blow down at start of trail. Trail is still passable.
2024-04-21 | Michael Pratt | Border Path | 2 | Cleared loose organics and raked water bars. | Large tree down across trail at marker 1165. Needs chain saw or two handed saw for removal
2024-04-25 | Mimi Kugler | Houghton Hill Path | 2 | Inspected the entire trail. Cleaned and reshaped all drainage structures. Brushing, including some greenbriar removal. Removed branches and rocks from the trail.
2024-04-25 | Mimi Kugler | Houghton Trail | 2 | nspected the entire trail. Cleaned and reshaped all drainage structures. Brushing, including some greenbriar removal. Removed branches and rocks from the trail. | Greenbriars and thorn bushes are expanding near the south end of the trail, up to the southernmost trail intersection. A power tool such as a brush cutter will be required to tame the problem. Loppers were used, but could only put a dent in the problem. Also at the southernmost trail intersection, the tree with the 1151 sign is dead. It is still standing but will eventually fall. | Litter at the trailhead is an ongoing problem. |
