Do you want to learn how to lead and conduct a trail work event for the Friends of the Blue Hills? Â Â Join experienced trail maintenance leader, Bob Flagg, to learn how to lead an event to keep people engaged and safe and help care for the trails. During this event, geared to people interested in leading trail events, you will learn how to survey a trail to determine the maintenance needs of the trail and to develop a workplan for the event including number of volunteers, work to be accomplished, and tool list.
Friends of the Blue Hills volunteer leaders started a volunteer-led trail maintenance program about 10 years ago to address the extensive maintenance needs on the trails of the Reservation.  As part of this program, volunteer leaders identify work for the event, and then train and oversee volunteers who perform a variety of trail maintenance activities.  The Friends will provide all the tools and training needed to participate as a leader and a volunteer event participant.
The trail maintenance leadership training will last about 2 hours. Please wear sturdy shoes for hiking and bring water. Sign up today and at least a week before the event, you’ll receive an email with the meeting location.
If you’re interested in learning how to lead an event, but can’t make the training, just leave a comment below and we’ll be in touch!
