Join a DCR ranger and Les Tyrala, a registered geologist as we explore the geology and quarry history to understand why the granite of Quincy was so valuable. Additionally we’ll admire some glacial features at the edges of the quarry. Sturdy footwear is required and the ability to climb rugged, narrow trails.1.5 hours

Things to know before you go

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Wear sturdy footgear, carry drinking water on all hikes and dress in layers for maximum comfort.
  • We will hike unless the weather is severe. If weather conditions are questionable, please call the Blue Hills Events line for updates at (617) 698-1802, ext. 4.
