FBH Comments on Major Highway Redesign Project
Friends of the Blue Hills has been working with MassHighway on the major redesign of the I-95/I-93/University Avenue interchange and on October 11, 2002 submitted comments on the project to EOEA Secretary Bob Durand as part of the formal environmental process. In its letter the Friends called for the maximum amount of wetlands restoration possible in the area north of the interchange in Canton. We also asked MassHighway to create and restore trails in and around the interchange to connect surrounding neighborhoods with the Reservation.

Update January, 2010 — Friends of the Blue Hills continues to work with MassDOT on the major redesign of the I-95/I-93/University Avenue Interchange by participating as a member of the I-95 Canton Interchange Task Force. The project is in its initial design phase with the goal of reaching 25% design completion and submittal of a Draft Environmental Impact Report by spring of 2010. The plans for the replacement of the ramp stubs north of the interchange with parkland, wetlands, observation areas, and accessible trails will, when completed, create an exciting new addition to the Reservation.
