There’s a high-density building complex proposed on property near the portion of the Blue Hills called Fowl Meadow. A developer is in the process of buying homes on Brush Hill Rd (near the entrance of Fuller Village) with plans to demolish the existing houses to make way for 300 rental units in four-story buildings and townhouses on a 20-acre parcel of land.
Join community members on December 4th to learn more about the development and how it could affect wetlands in Fowl Meadow. Here are the details:

THIS ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT HAPPEN… ACEC LAND.
ALSO, IT WILL NOT ONLY NEGATIVELY IMPACT OUR ENTIRE ECO SYSTEM THERE, BUT CULTURALLY WILL IMPACT ALL OF READVILLE AND PARTS OF MILTON. WHAT ABOUT THE NATIVE AMERICAN ARTIFACTS DOCUMENTED ON THIS LAND IN THE 1970’S??? WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THAT IT WAS PROBABLY PART OF THE CIVIL WAR TRAINING GROUND FOR SOLDIERS ALL OVER NEW ENGLAND INCLUDING THE BLACK REGIMENT FOR WHICH THE FILM “GLORY” BROUGHT FAME.
CHECK WITH ENDANGERED, PROTECTED, AND THREATENED SPECIES FOUND THROUGHOUT THIS REGION…
CHECK THE MIGRATORY PATTERNS OF BIRDS – THEY ARE CONSTANTLY LOSING THEIR RESTING STOPS AND THEREFORE DYING OUT
WHY DOESN’T MILTON MAKE THE LAND TAX AFFORDABLE FOR THE RESIDENTS WHO HAVE OWNED THIS LAND FOR GENERATIONS AND WISH TO KEEP IT AS CONSERVATION LAND, BUT CAN’T AFFORD TO.
DID ANYONE EVER CONSIDER THE TRAFFIC CONGESTION THAT IT WILL BRING TO NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES LIKE READVILLE??? THERE IS NO WAY THAT THE RENTALS CAN BE TOD – PEOPLE WON’T WALK THE DISTANCE TO THE COMMUTER RAIL. NOW WE ARE GREATLY IMPACTING ALL THE QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD DEAD END STREETS IN READVILLE FOR THOSE RESIDENTS WHO DO NOT WANT TO PAY THE MBTA $4 PARKING FEE.
ABSOLUTE INSANITY AND NO REGARD FOR THE CURRENT RESIDENTS OF MILTON AND READVILLE WHO WILL BE IMPACTED
MARTHA
The statement in your blog posting, “Because it will be proposed as a “40B” project, the development would not have to comply with local wetland codes”, is not accurate. Developers proposing 40B projects are not exempt from wetlands protection laws.
Under Massachusetts law, developments created under Chapter 40B are subject to the State Wetlands Protection Act, which is locally administered by local Conservation Commissions.
Applicants may ask the local Zoning Board of Appeals to waive any local wetlands protection bylaws. The State’s Wetlands Protection Act is administered by the local Conservation Commission.
Thanks for the clarification.
