How long have you been going to the Blue Hills?
I’ve been going to the Blue Hills since high school, so roughly 10 years? That seems like such a long time!
What is your favorite spot in the Blue Hills?
Any spot with a view. We tend to frequent Buck Hill when in the Blue Hills. I like the Blue Hills because there is just a plethora of hikes you can choose from whether it be easy, hard, long or short. It just depends on the trail(s) you take and what you make of it.
Do you like to hike alone or with company?
I usually hike with my fiancé, Chris. And no outdoor adventure is complete without our sidekick, Milo, a Shiba Inu. He’s been hiking since he was a puppy and enjoys it as much as we do.
What volunteer activities do you do for the Friends of the Blue Hills?
I do the social media for the Friends and I’ve volunteered at Green Up and will help lead Boots n’ Brews August 29th.
Why do you volunteer for the Friends of the Blue Hills?
There are a few reasons I decided to volunteer for the Blue Hills.
First and foremost is because I frequent it a lot so why not volunteer? I volunteer with organizations for causes I’m passionate about. I’m an outdoor enthusiast so I’d like to see places like the Blue Hills be taken care of so we all can enjoy now and in the future. My fiancé and I often pick up trash we spot along the way and carry it out – carry in and out is a rule we respect.
Second is because I want to grow professionally by contributing my social media skills. I don’t get to use my social media skills in my full-time job so I thought I could do it in my spare time. And last but not least, it just made sense. Nonprofit organizations are always looking for volunteers and I like to volunteer where I can. The Friends gives me the flexibility to help when I can as well.
