Eliot Tower Closed for Renovation
Great Blue Hill Eliot Tower and Pavilion is getting a face-lift this Fall!
The Eliot Observation Tower and Pavilion is closed for renovations. Â The tower and pavilion are getting a new roof and the area around the structure will be off limits and enclosed in a chain link fence during construction. The DCR apologizes for any inconvenience.
For the best scenic view during the construction period, check out:
- The Blue Hill Weather Observatory and Science Center is open for rooftop viewing on Saturdays and Sundays and holidays, for a nominal fee. Space is limited on the rooftop.  For additional Observatory information, call 617-696-0562 or visit www.bluehill.org
- The picnic field beside the Blue Hill Weather Observatory offers a view south and east.
- The Blue Hill Ski Area upper slopes boast a scenic view to the west.
- For the best panoramic view this fall during construction, take a hike to Buck Hill, located in the Quincy section of the park. Buck Hill rises just west of Route 28. The summit can be accessed by the rocky and steep Skyline Trail from Route 28 (very limited parking) or on a rugged and rocky red dot trail which starts from Houghton’s Pond main parking lot and leads you to Buck Hill and back again.
