Ready for an outdoor adventure? Join Navigation Games for an exciting Introduction to Orienteering at beautiful Houghton’s Pond! This fun, all-ages activity invites you to learn the basics of orienteering—an outdoor navigation sport where you use a map and compass to find checkpoints in the landscape.
Come anytime between 10AM and 2PM to:

Kid-Friendly Fun!
Young adventurers can enjoy special gamified activities in the open field behind the Visitor Center. They’ll search for animal markers, follow a simple map, and build key navigation skills while having a blast.
This free event is perfect for families, first-timers, and anyone who loves the outdoors. Come get active, learn something new, and enjoy nature in a whole new way!

Join our partner Arc’Teryx Boston for a 10k trail race at Blue Hills Reservation followed by complimentary refreshments and a post-race celebration! This event is for all paces and skill levels; all are welcome. 1st and 2nd place prizes will be awarded to the top 2 men, women and non-binary runners who finish.
In addition to the race this event will include:
– Professional timing and finish line photos by Presidential Timing, LLC.
– Footwear & gear demos
– Free video stride analysis and post race adjustments by our friends at Ripple Boston
– Swag bags and other fun surprises
– Snacks & refreshments- including hydration products from our friends at Nuun
Packets can be picked up starting at 8:30am on race day. Race start time is 10 am with a general meeting 5-10 minutes prior. Although all paces are welcome, there is a general 3 hour cutoff to accommodate race clean up. All racers and spectators are welcome to come and hang out! All proceeds from ticket sales will go to The Friends of The Blue Hills. Donations from friends and spectators hanging out will also be accepted on race day!

The Blue Hill Observatory’s premiere annual conference—for 25 years—features experts in meteorology and climate science to a community of weather enthusiasts, professionals, and educators of diverse backgrounds and ages. All are motivated to learn about weather-related phenomena that impact their daily lives and future living conditions in New England.
The conference includes presentations, panel discussions, and workshops focused on such topics as AI and how it is shaping weather forecasting, climate change in New England, national and local emergency preparedness, New England’s winter outlook, hurricanes, and climate education.
Formal networking activities among participants and presenters facilitate individual conversation and connection.
