We are honored that the family of David Dorsheimer has chosen the Friends of the Blue Hills as a charity worthy of accepting donations in his memory. Here is a little about his life.
David A. Dorsheimer, a lifelong Dedham resident, passed away October 4, 2016 at home surrounded by his family after a 15 month courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was the cherished son of Florence Evelyn (Gramer) Dorsheimer of Dedham and the late John Daniel Dorsheimer, Jr. Beloved brother of Rita of Dedham, Jack and his wife Mary of Millis, Diane Haase-Leiden and her husband Steve of Norwood, James and his wife Kim of Norfolk, Lisa Procaccini and her husband Gary of Foxboro.
Dave was especially adored by all his nieces and nephews. Spending time with “Uncle Dave” was always an adventure in learning about science, history and nature, viewing the sky through his telescope or just hanging around telling jokes and trivia. They were in awe of his infinite knowledge about everything. But the greatest gift he gave them was his time.
Dave’s passions included photography, gardening, bird watching and protecting and preserving wildlife. An avid hiker, he photographed many species of animals in their natural habitat at the Blue Hills during his daily hikes.
Dave was a kind and gentle soul and all who were lucky enough to know him will miss him terribly.
Services for David will be private.
Donations may be made in David’s memory to: Friends of the Blue Hills.
