Do you want to help protect the forest and enjoy the park?
Join us at a little-known section of the park called Farnham-Connolly to remove a destructive invasive plant that is destroying habitat and threatening the animals, birds and insects that depend on it. It grows so fast it is called ‘mile-a-minute.’ While it doesn’t exactly extend a mile, it can grow up to 6 inches in a day!
When you join us on July 12th, you will help remove the vine to allow sunlight to reach the native plants. Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy shoes. We will provide gloves to protect your hands from the small barbs, but if you have a favorite pair of gardening gloves, please bring them.
Farnham Connolly is a wonderful habitat with butterflies, caterpillars and wildflowers. Children are welcome to help out or participate in a simple scavenger hunt that encourages them to explore the nature around them. Refreshments will be provided.
Many thanks to our generous sponsors, including FM Generator and Barrie Naji, MBA realtor. The program is also supported by a grant from the Canton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
