Are there any trees and shrubs still available.
There are only red oaks left. But you’re still welcome to pick one up! We’ll be out there until Saturday, as long as supplies last.
Thanks to all the volunteers this morning who were do cheery in the face of hundreds of cars at 9 am.
Is the red dogwood a redtwig variety?
Yes, it is!
This sounds like a great offer! Thank you very much. I hope to see you next week. FREE trees or shrubs!!!
Awesome! We look forward to seeing you.
is there a limit on shrubs . can i get both limits on trees and shrub together or it either or.
how big are the shrubs and how heavy
Annmarie,
Glad you’re interested! The limit is two plants per person. The shrubs are about 3 feet tall and light. Buckets probably weigh 10 lbs.
Judy
I’m very disappointed that this program is only offered weekdays between 9-12. I work every day and will never be able to get a shrub. Sad
Sue,
Such a good point! We are now offering them on Saturday as well and I hope you can stop by and pick one up.
Thanks for writing in.
Judy
The last day? Probably won’t be anything left at that point. I feel like this should have been offered a couple of times during the week in the evening
Sue,
You’re right. Next year we’ll think about how to make it more accessible. You can email us to see if there are still trees on Friday (info@friendsofthebluehills.org). Last year we had trees left over, but this year I think more people know about it.
Thanks for your comments!
Judy
What a wonderful IDEA!!!
I would love to be included, I have wanted to get a crab apple for some time, I love the pink flowers.
Kate,
Great! Just drop by the Wakefield Arboretum from 9 am to noon, Monday through Saturday. We’re giving the trees away on a first-come, first-served basis.
Thanks!
Judy
If a non-family friend and I come in the same car, would we each be able to get two trees? It’s not very environmentally conscious to drive two cars.
Joan, Sure! Thanks for asking.
Hi, do we just show up there or do u have to schedule an appointment?
Lori, You just show up! We’re looking forward to seeing you.
Hi,
I was wondering if the Colorado Spruce trees were the blue variety? Thanks
Hi,
Was just wondering if the Colorado Spruce trees were the blue spruce variety? Thanks.
They will turn blue with age.
Hi,
Is the Colorado Spruce a dwarf variety be any chance ?
No, it will be full-sized.
Great program. Would love red maple and red boxwood
My question disappeared. How do we let you know ahead of time which tree or shrub we want? I want 2 red dogwood. Thanks, sounds wonderful.
Pam,
We aren’t taking orders beforehand. It’s first-come, first served. There should be plently of trees for everyone!
Judy
How big are the trees? I’m one person, string but not tall! How big of a car is necessary? I have a largish suv. Will that work?
Pam,
Good question. The trees vary from 12 inches to three feet.
Not sure where the signup link is.
Jude – We’re so glad you’re interested in a tree! You don’t need to sign up. Just come! It’s first-come, first-served. You can come at any time during the week.
What kinds of trees to choose from? And how to communicate my choice?
Emily,
So glad you’re interested!
Trees are available on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be four species of trees available (River Birch, Crab Apple. Red Maple, Red Oak, and Colorado Spruce) and three species of shrubs (Gray Dogwood, Red Dogwood, Common Nineback).
Hi ! Great program, thanks . Is there a sign up, or is it first come first served each day ? The post says to select the tree before pickup, somewhat confusing..,
But thanks !
And a great question! It is first come first served… and we hope you come!
We’ll fix the write-up. Thank you!
