LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: MODERATE
This hike will be approximately 3 miles, with some elevated difficult terrain and rocky obstacles. Wear sturdy footwear. 
This hike will begin at 840 Hillside St, Houghton’s Pond, by the playground. 
Hikes are rain or shine.  We stay together and take a steady but patient pace.  We are patient with everyone and we will go the pace of the slowest hiker.  Stops may be frequent for water, pictures or any other reason.  While vernal pools typically happen in the spring, recent changes in weather patterns have caused them to sometimes be present in the summer months, which would add features to our hike (as well as bugs).  Please take note of bathroom locations and hours and if the need arises on the trail please leave no trace behind.
Appropriate gear includes hiking boots, water and layers.  Also recommended are hiking poles, long pants, bug repellant, bathroom supplies, trash bag, hand sanitizer, a hat and sunscreen.  A hike that starts off cool may warm up quickly, so an extra layer helps.
Stay together.  Look out for each other. Report issues to hike leader immediately.  Also note that ticks may be present at any time that the temperature is above freezing, so please check for ticks after your hike.
