Ashes to New Beginnings Hike @ Houghton's Pond Parking Lot
Oct 14 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Ashes to New Beginnings Hike @ Houghton's Pond Parking Lot | Milton | Massachusetts | United States
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY: MODERATE
This hike will be approximately 3 miles, with some elevated difficult terrain and rocky obstacles. Wear sturdy footwear.
This hike will begin at 840 Hillside St, Houghton’s Pond, by the playground.

Join us for a guided hike through an area undergoing ecological change, where fire has played a recent role in shaping the land. This walk offers a chance to explore how natural processes like fire influence forest health, biodiversity, and regeneration over time.

Led by a knowledgeable guide, we’ll follow a scenic loop through varied terrain, pausing along the way to observe and discuss how the forest responds to disturbance. You’ll learn how fire can benefit ecosystems, what changes we might expect to see, and how nature rebounds in surprising and beautiful ways.

This hike is designed for curiosity and conversation. We’ll move at a moderate pace, stopping at key points for reflection and discussion. While the effects of fire may look stark to some.

Hikes are rain or shine.  We stay together and take a steady but patient pace.  We are patient with everyone and we will go the pace of the slowest hiker.  Stops may be frequent for water, pictures or any other reason.
Appropriate gear includes hiking boots, water, and layers.
Stay together.  Look out for each other. Report issues to hike leader immediately.
