Do you want to help prevent erosion and keep our trails well marked and maintained by surveying the trails with an app on your phone?  If you would like to learn to help the park just by walking the trails, you will want to come to the training!

At the training you will learn to identify and document trail features, like culverts (pipes under the trails to divert water) and water bars, then join us!   You will not only learn how to identify key trail features, but also how to assess opportunities for trail work, which is one of the first steps to becoming a trail leader, and is a skill that you can use to support other leaders and all our trail efforts.

Once you learn how to use the app, you can choose the trails where you would like to document the trail features by walking the trail.  Choose as many – or as few — trails as you would like.  Your efforts will help develop the baseline data that we will rely on to help identify and prioritize work, like repairing culverts which will protect the trail for all visitors.  No prior experience with trail maintenance required… just an interest to learn!

Can’t make the training, but want to learn to use the app?  Contact us at info@friendsofthebluehills.org or leave a comment below.
