See the Effects of Wildfires: Tour the Park with Fire Ecologists @ TBA

If you walk in the eastern part of the Blue Hills, you will see evidence of wildfires that burned nearly 80 acres of forest and ridgetop barrens this spring.  How did these fires affect the forest, wildlife, and plants of the area?  Perhaps not the way you might think!  Join Caren Caljouw and Alex Entrup from the Massachusetts Division Fisheries and Wildlife for a guided tour to reveal natural secrets of the Blue Hills, its interesting fire and land use history, and the many specialized plants and animals found here. You’ll learn about this unique fire influenced ecosystem in the Blue Hills and the animals and plants that depend on it. Caren and Alex will also describe efforts to improve wildlife habitat throughout Massachusetts through the careful use of prescribed fire.
