Little Blue Hill
A good hike for kids about 5-years and older. Little Blue Hill offers a much shorter climb than Great Blue, only 270 feet in elevation, as opposed to Great Blue’s 635 feet. Kids enjoy rock scrambling up the (short) hill and most of the hike is through thick woods, although you’ll pass close to Green and Royale Streets. You’ll also come across a clearing with a stone bench, dedicated to Augustus Hemenway. A number of loop trails provide flexibility, so you can make it as short as you like. Make sure you bring a map to navigate the trails, water, and don’t forget snacks to keep the kids’ energy up.
Parking: On Route 138, between Blue Hill River Road and the Trailside Museum.
